proposed to give any demobilisation leave to British officers released prior to
General Demobilisation. Officers returning from overseas for release in India
will be paid gratuities by D. D. O. of Division in which located or by F. 0. M.
A. Poona where officers released at Port of Disembarkation. Scales of gratui

Director of Commercial Intelligence. I am informed by Department of
Overseas Trade that provision is made under extended scheme for Commercial
Counsellor service now under submission to treasury, for Commercial Secretary,
second grade in Mesopotamia. Salary £700— 25 —900, local allowance £400,
office allowance £400. Also for non-recurrent grant for initial expenses and
maximum of £300 per annum for travelling and subsistence. Would your
requirements be met by this ? If so, name and qualifications of any one now
serving in Mesopotamia whom you consider suitable for post may please be
telegraphed.
This is with reference to your telegram of the 30th January, 1247 (Dy.
No. 8030).
