Summary of events.
The
Political Resident
A senior ranking political representative (equivalent to a Consul General) from the diplomatic corps of the Government of India or one of its subordinate provincial governments, in charge of a Political Residency.
, Baghdad, stated that he would probably leave Basrah on 3rd March, and was due
to arrive Suez about 20th instant.
The General Officer Commanding, Force “ D,’* was informed of the arrival on 25th February at Karachi
of Lieutenants Gerardot and Foidibard that they wefe sailing in “ Bankura ” for Force “ D.”
The Secretary, War Office, London, intimated difficulty anticipated in obtaining full demand for tin
plates and enquired if the Anglo-Persian Oil Company’s allotment was included in Force “ D’s ”
10,000 tons.
The Secretary, War Office, London, stated that consideration of through Basrah to Baghdad Railway was
to be deferred, effects to be concentrated on improvement of existing lines.
The Deputy Director of Railways, Force “ D,” enquired about certain second-hand railway material
available from Killick Nixon, Bombay, and requested despatch if obtainable.
A statement showing guns in use in Mesopotamia and in reserve, and ammunition in hand and expended
up to 25th February was received from the General Officer Commanding, Force “ D.”
The General Officer Commanding, Force “ D,” was notified that his proposed reorganisation of the troops
on the Lower Euphrates was approved, and that No. 56 was allotted to the brigade for the Hillah
area.
The General Officer Commanding, Force “ D,” was asked if soda water supply for ensuing summer months
was completely secured.
The supply situation in India for the maintenance of overseas forces on 23rd February was forwarded to
the Secretarv, War Office, London. _. . ~ .
Requirements in Supply and Transport Corps personnel was received from the Deputy Adjutant General,
3rd Echelon, Force “ D.” T ,
A statement showing movements of river craft was forwarded to the Secretary, War Office, London . •
The General Officer Commanding, Force “ D,” was requested to give Indian trade categories in detail in
