Shipping discharges at Basrah —“ Thessalia,” “ Subadar, 5, l * Hingsang ”
and “ Ningpo 55 completed discharging permanent-way material, stores andi
timber. “ Hunnie ” with 3 standard gauge locomotives and “ Scottier,’*
“ Kajang, ” “ Sandakan ” and “ Kamuning ” with permanent-way material are
now discharging. “ Phranang ” and “ Pausang ” arrived in port with perma
nent-way material but not yet plaeed for discharging.
Progress report up to December 8th.
Falluyah standard gauge extension. —Formation complete to mile 28J
Section with heaviest earthwork has been completed so progress will now he
faster. Linking from mile 25 recommenced on 9th and should be complete
to mile 30 by December 12th.
Basrah-Qurnah Bailway. —No linking during the week. Sufficient
permanent way has now been received to complete Basrah-Nahr Umar.
Musaiyih standard gauge extension. —No progress. Embankement com
plete to mile 10.
Ranaidi-Baquhah metre gauge conversion —Linking completed to Baqubah
road station on left hank of Dialha and metre gauge transhipment to narrow
gauge transferred to Baqubah road station. Earthwork and linking of sidings
m Baqubah road station in hand.
Rinaidi-Baqubah narrow gauge —Dismantling and picking up material
Hinami end started. Material will be collected and sorted ready for use on
the Abu Jisrah Abu (Saidah ?) branch and Baqubah—Deltawah extension.
