Summary of events.
The Director, Supply and Transport, Force “ D,” was asked to forward particulars of the quantity and kind
of petrol required monthly from India in the event of Abadan petrol proving unsatisfactory and was
informed that a stock of 50,000 gallons of petrol Shell 720 was being sent to Basrah in order to
maintain reserve of aviation petrol until such time as adequate stocks from Abadan were available.

The Chief of the Imperial General Staff informed the General Officer Commanding,
there were no indications of enemy preparations for an attack on Baghdad, audit was evident that the
attention of the Turks was at present concentrated on Palestine, one of the Indian Divisions in
Mesopotamia was to be transferred to Egypt as quickly as possible.
The Secretary, War Office, London, was informed of the supply situation in India for the maintenance of
overseas forces on the morning of 1st December.
The General Officer Commanding, Force “D,” stated that Brigadier-Generals W. M. Thomson, G. A. J.
Leslie, A. C. Lewin and C. H. Davis were the officers alluded to as competent to command a
division, and recommended them in the order named, and asked if he was to understand definitely
that General Hopwood was to be succeeded by Gillman as Chief of the General Staff.
The General Officer Commanding, Force “ D,” was informed of the composition of the first part oi 11th
Porter Corps which was to sail shortly.
The General Officer Commanding, Force “ D,” was informed that 2,196 gallons Shell 720 petrol for
aviation had already been despatched, and it was anticipated that the balance would go by the end
of December.
The Commander-in-Chief, India, informed the Secretary, War Office, London, that as oatmeal was coming
from Australia, and sujie from India was acceptable to Force “ D,” to supplement, there was no need
to anticipate demands on him. _ .
The statement of permanent-way stock in hand on 1st December was received from the Director of
