Summary of events.
20-12-17
The Director, Military Intelligence, London, forwarded information that a man belonging to 72nd
German Eieid Artillery Regiment whilst on leave stated that his regiment left at the beginning of
December for Palestine.
The General Officer Commanding, Porce “ D,” reported that the Veterinary authorities now stated that
balance of camels for Bandar Abbas wmuld not be fit for despatch for 2 months.
The Director, Inland Water Transport, Basrah, forwarded Inland Water Transport strength return for the
w 7 eek ending 22nd December.
The Inspector General of Communications, Basrah, forwarded remarks asked for on certain correspondence
regarding shipping from Mr. Mon tea th.
The Embarkation Commandant, Basrah, reported the arrival of the <c Bandra ” on 24th December with
87th Divisional Signal Company and details.
The General Officer Commanding, * Porce “D,” stated that he would make available the officers required
for the new battalions forming, and intimated the gradings required in relief of those combed out
from DiroofOFcttos
The General Officer Commanding, Porce “ D,” stated there was nothing to report on 25th December
The General Officer Commanding, Porce “ D,” stated that owing to the expansion of Camps in the
neighbourhood of Basrah it had been necessary to extend the area of the Military Governor there and
he had .appointed an Assistant Military Governor at Basrah.
The statement of discharges per ship in tons on 23rd December was received from the Inspector General
of Communications, Basrah.
The General Officer Commanding, Porce “ D,” stated that until further shipments from India were
received, voyage rations for the Division leaving the country did not permit of items of condiments
being despatched to Baghdad and trusted that steps to remedy the shortage of' condiments would be
pti ctf once.
The Secretary, War Office, London, was informed of the supply situation in India for the maintenance of
overseas forces on the morning of 22nd December.
