Summary of events.
The General Officer Commanding, Force'‘D,” stated that in order to meet voyage casualties he would be
glad if 10 per cent spare horses could be sent with units of i ith Cavalry Brigade.
The General Officer Commanding, Force “ D, ” stated that he did not propose to contradict Turkish
communiques regularly as they were so consistently fictitious.
The General Officer Commanding, Force “ D, M reported all well.
The authorise esdtablishment of Force “ D ” was received from the Deputy Adjutant General, 3rd Echelon,
Basrah.
The General Officer Commanding, Force “ D, ” stated that as a horse artillery battery could not be provid
ed by India, he would be glad to know if it could be provided by Home.
The General Officer Commanding, Force "D,” informed the Chief of the General Staff, Simla, that he was
right in his assumption regarding demand per mules, but only 700 carts had been asked for, whereas
he promised to supply 1,700
The Detailed statement of ration strength of Force “ D, ” dated 25th August, was received from the
Deputy Adjutant General, 3rd Echelon, Basrah.
The General Officer Commanding, Force “ D, ” requested that in addition to authorised establishment
of Operations section an increase of one General Staff Officer 2 and three General Staff Officers 3 might
be sanctioned.
The General Officer Commanding, Force “ D, ” informed the Chief of the Imperial General Staff, London,
that he had cabled to India suggesting Brigadier-General R. A. Cassels, 32nd Lancers, as Commander
of the new Cavalry Brigade.
The General-Officer Commanding, Force “ D, ” asked to be informed what number of drivers, British and
Indian, for the 10 Ford van Companies could be provided by 1st January 1918.
