In lieu of sub-assistant surgeons, dressers are suitable. If possible ^ they
should be carefully selected and speak English. Dispensers are not suitable
in my opinion as substitutes for assistant surgeons except as regards part of
their duties and I am employing as many as I usefully can already. In place
of assistant surgeons should prefer junior officers as available.
