Your 41198 of 12th (Dy, No. 62154).
I informed Baratoff on August 13th that if he would have ammunition for
his Dialah Column despatched to Basrah I could place it at Baqubah.
Rowlandson, after consultation with BaratofPs staff, informed me on August
15th that this column would be supplied with ammunition through Persia,
but that, in case of communications through Persia being severed, Russian Head
quarters were being asked to despatch following ammunition to Basrah as re
serve:—10,000 rounds field gun, 5,000 rounds howitzer, 5,000 rounds mountain
gun, and 10 million rounds rifle ammunition. I will bring this gradually up to
Baghdad as soon as it is delivered at Basrah.
It appears therefore that action by you is not necessary.
