My X.*3304 of 21st August (Dy. No. 56916). It is stated in a report
from Agent Y (Syria) transmitted on 3rd September from Damascus to Tebuk
that pounds T 16,000 have been sent by (?) the I, G. C. per Niazi Effendi O. C.
of Mustahfiz to you (presumably O. C. Tebuk composite force) for Ibn-el-Reshid.
It is also stated that pounds T4,ooo have already been presented to him.through
Ghalib Bey head of the commission sent by Fakhri Pasha An Ottoman title used after the names of certain provincial governors, high-ranking officials and military commanders. thus making total
of pounds T20,ooo. It will be difficult, so the sender states, to send any more
gold and asks to be informed when the money has been handed over to
Ibn-el-Reshid. The sender continues that he has received information from
Abdul Hamid Bey that, in order to punish rebel tribes, H. E. the Emir requires
7 wagons of provisions, one regiment of cavalry-2 Q. F. guns and 2 machine
guns. Also that recipient of message is to inform sender what force it will. be
possible and convenient to provide from recipient’s district as it is impossible
to provide the force which is to accompany the Emir from anywhere but the
district of the 1st composite force. This is signed by Ali Fuad.

To cover anticipated wastage to date of arrival and provide 15 per cent

My Code telegram R.-5375 (Dy. No ; 60554) of date , gives requirements
of Army Service Corps personnel. This cancels all previous demands and is
based on the assumption that drafts will arrive by November 15th.
Credit has been given for 8 officers en route from England on “ Common
wealth ” and “ Henley” but not for other ranks, as categories unknown. Credit
given for M. T. Personnel ^ v ‘‘Kashmii ^ and “ Aronda ” latest transports to
arrive with M. T. details.
Please note that as the position is not clear, credit is not given in this
demand for Horse Transport and supply A. S. C. personnel en route from
England or promised. Following arrived “Briton” on August 18th which
