12,600, rodaer 15,000, fuelwood 9,200, coal 3,000. For November rations
11,000, grain 12,800, fodder 15,000, fuelwood 9,600, all tons. This estimate
assumes that my August demand is fully satisfied and allows for 60 days com
plete British and Indian rations and 45 days fodder, grain and fuelwood is
reserve at end of each month. Medical comforts and petrol shell A will require
about another 600 tons monthly including all standing orders. Fodder includes
provision for sheep and cattle. Coal will only be required once every three
months. Can send you exact tonnage of each item of British and Indian rations
if required. All above figures are only approximate and a forecast which will
depend from month to month on the amount of tonnage allotted to me. My
exact requirements for September will follow directly General Headquarters
have informed me tonnage allotted for that month.

The volume contains a chronological list of brief summaries of papers relating to the activities of the Indian Expeditionary Force D (also known as the Mesopotamia Expeditionary Force) between 16 and 31 August 1917. This is accompanied by appendices containing copies and extracts of these papers, which include: letters, telegrams, notes, reports, tables, and memoranda.
