With reference to the various classes of commodities required by Meso
potamia and the necessity for the allotment of accommodation for each at the
Port of Basrah. Are depots in existence at or near ports, where stores
can he received surplus to current allotment, Spending temporary limitation
of shipments from India ? When we were similarly situated as regards France,
depots were established to enable each department to order forvardat short
notice within their tonnage allotment articles most urgently required and also
to avoid the chance of any blocking back on sources of supply which might
interfere with output of stores. All accumulations were cleared as port situation
in France improved.
