The General Officer Commanding, Egypt, forwarded information regarding the location of the Head
quarters of the 13th and 18th Army Corps and the establishment of an advanced detachment at
Summeicka.
The Koyal Flying Corps Report for the week ending 29th March was received by the Chief of the
General Staff.
The Secretary, War Office, intimated that it was now proposed not to send the sound ranging section
The Secretary, War Office, notified that 2,350 trained reinforcements would be despatched to Easrah
direct about April 5th and 1,430 about April 11th.
The Viceroy informed the Secretary of State for India that it seemed essential, apart from martial law
which can merely maintain order, to take steps to overhaul and replace the defunct Turkish adminis
tration at Baghdad and to carry on the work of the Civil Departments. It was understood that suitable
Arab personnel was not immediately available for this purpose, and that the onus, for the time
being at any rate, must fall on British Officers, and immediate requirements were enumerated.
The General Officer Commanding, Force “ D, ” reported that the detached force moved forward on the
morning of the 29th March and attacked the Shatt-el-Adhaim force while at the same time contain
ing the advance of the Deli—Abbas force. Our troops were reported to have established themselves
in the enemy 5 s position and heavy counter-attacks had been beaten off, tnough fighting w as still in
Generalllead quarters, Egyptian Expeditionary Eorce, forwarded information which stated (i) that the
18th Army Corps on March 29th reported to Mosul, a shortage of food (ii) the Headquarters
of the 6th Army were proceeding to Kirkuk on March 28th and {iii) that the tipper Zab was very
