Summary of events.

The Director, Military Intelligence, London, forwarded information, believed reliable, received from
Egypt on March 19th, regarding ammunition at Samarrah and Tekrit.
It was pointed out to the General Officer Commanding, Eorce “ D,” that in his original scheme for the re*
organization of Eield Ambulances, provision had been made for five Indian Divisions, and his amended
scheme only provided for four.
The Director, Military Intelligence, London, forwarded information regarding the advance of the
Russians in South-West Persia, as reported by Rowlandson.
The General Officer Commanding, Egypt, reported that absolutely reliable information showed that the
13th Army Corps was crossing at Samarrah on 21st, that there was a serious shortage of supplies,
especially barley, that any quick-firing and German munitions available in Mosul were urgently
wanted in Kirkuk and Erbi], and that the Mosul Corps Commander, believing that if he concentrated
on the left bank of the Tigris Mosul would be endangered, suggested concentrating on the right bank
of the Beled.
The General Officer Commanding, Eorce “ D,” reported ( 1 ) that on the Euphrates the enemy had cut
the bund at the mouth of the Saklawieh canal, west of Eellujah, that the repair of the bund was
impracticable, and water was flowing in strongly, and that he had several alternative plans for holding
the Euphrates line in that neighbourhood, and felt confident that a suitable solution of the problem
would be forthcoming; ( 2 ) that the enemy’s column on the Euphrates was reported by aeroplanes to be
still retreating, and on the 21 st was moving westward from Ramadi; and ( 3 ) on the 21 st the advanced
troops of the column moving towards Khanikin had been in touch with the enemy, who appeared to
be endeavouring to cross the Dial ah River near Kizil Robat so as to get across to the Kifri Road.
