General Officer Commanding, Force “ D, ” in order to economise staffs, or
fo form 2 separate Corps.
As the question of disposal of General Anderson and surplus staffs is a
pressing one, please reply at once on this point.
I will telegraph later as to the order of despatch and composition of
divisions.

Our telegram, dated 13th October, H.-8464 (Dy No. S -24261), Amarah
Workshops. Position in regard to repair of river craft with Force “D”
having become acute and in view of the fact that some considerable time must
elapse before workshops mentioned in our telegram cited can be established we
have sanctioned deputation of Railway officer with the necessary staff to
proceed to Amarah at once and make such temporary arrangements, cost of
which must not exceed Rs. 40,000 as may be necessary to meet immediate
requirements. Temporary arrangements are to be such as can be made to fit
into larger scheme. Cost will be debitable to His Majesty’s Government.

In continuation of my letter No. 469-11-W. S. (Dy. No. S.-23658), dated
the 8th October 1915, I have the honour to forward herewith, a statement
shewing further reinforcements and details by classes, which sailed for Indian
Expeditionary Force “ D ”, from Bombay and Karachi, between the 1st
October and the 18th October 1915.
