The Secretary of State was informed that it was reported that 1,500 Armenians had recently arrived at
Mosul from Van and that the Turkish Government had given them a subsistence allowance of two
annas a day and deported them to Deir-ez-Zor in order to keep them away from the theatres of war
as much as possible, to obviate the possible leakage of information, or a revolution.
The General Officer Commanding Porce, “ D ”, was informed of the date of sailing of the <f Takada ” for
Basrah.
The General Officer Commanding Porce, “ D ”, was asked if another hospital ship was required ; if so the
“ Varela ” would be ready to sail from Bombay on the 6th November.
The General Officer Commanding Porce, “ D ”, asked for the services of an experienced irrigation officer to
replace Lieutenant Stoddart who had been invalided to India.
The General Officer Commanding, Porce “ D ”, was informed of the despatch of twelve copies of the
publication entitled “ Camel Corps Training, 1913.”
The Deputy Director, Ordnance Stores, Porce “ D”, asked for the supply of another 5,000 rounds of
buckshot for B. L. *476' / muskets.
The Secretary, War Office, stated that Major Marsh had wired to the effect that aBussian force had landed
at Enzeli and that a detachment under a Bussian officer had arrived at Hamadan.
The General Officer Commanding, Egypt, stated that telegrams sent to Porce “ D ”, would be repeated to
Chief of the General Staff in future.
The General Officer Commanding Porce “ D ” asked that the Secretary of State might be requested to state
when the paddle steamers and tugs would be delivered as the matter was very important.
The General Officer Commanding Porce “ D ” stated that his attention had been given to the supply and
storage arrangements of oil at Ahbadan and other places.
The Secretary, War Office, stated that the divisions to reinforce Porce “ D ” would be sent complete with
staffs ; it was only proposed to send 1st line transport, and mules would be used for the ambulance
wagons. The rifles were sighted for Mk. VII ammunition, but up to 600 yards the difference was
slight.
