Tigris Line — General Headquarters arrived at Sannoiyat on 25th September. At 4-45 a. m. on 25th
September enemy"s guns neio pattern 11 pounder Q. F. mountain guns believed 4 in number>
pushed Jorward from Sinn position, fired 20 to 30 rounds at Sannaiyat camp and withdrew
rapidly. Aerial reconnaissance on 25th September located 2 fresh gun positions on left bank
opposite Sinn and drew fire from 2 guns on right bank. Aeroplanes dropped bombs and then

It was urged by the General Officer Commanding, Force “D,” that as operations were seriously delayed
by the insufficiency of suitable river-craft, everything possible should be done to expedite the delivery
of the tugs and barges ordered for the force. He explained at some length the difficulties which
have to be encountered through lack of river transport, and difficulties of navigation, and he stated
that if suitable transport had been available we might have forestalled the enemy before he was
able to concentrate and prepare a fortified position.

on the “Kaiser-i-Hind” on 19th September.
