Lor reasons of secrecy, we do not propose to publish any further despatches
received from General Officer Commanding, Force u I),for the present, vide
Section 138 (5), Field Service Eegulations, Part II. As regards British officers
brought to notice in these despatehes, we are of opinion that they should he
considered for reward without their names having been mentioned in a despatch
published in the London Gazette or the Gazette of India. When necessity for
secrecy is over, the names with short accounts of the actions, can be published.
We should be glad to he informed whether these proposals meet with your
approval.

- The rejection of Turkish forces from Najaf [An-Najaf] by the local population
- Discussions about how to govern holy places between the Basrah [Basra] Vilayet [a province under the Ottoman Empire] and Baghdad in anticipation of them coming under British control, and the extent to which the Persian Government should be consulted on this matter.
