Mesopotamia.-—On 15th September, Headquarters, 6th Division, reached Abu Rummanah {6miles from
Sinn position) and naval reconnaissance on that day tends to show that Sinn position is held in strength
by the Turks. Aerial reconnaissance will be made on 16th September. Communication by land line
and wireless has been established between Abu Rummanah and Amarah.

Ihe Deputy Director, Medical Services, stated that the only intimation of hospital ship sailings had been
received through the S. M. T. 0., and that was why an answer was sent through that channel. He
asked that two hospital ships should be sent monthly at regular intervals of 14 days.

The Secretary of State asked for certain particulars regarding the possibility of reinforcing Ahwaz as he
had heard the reported march oi 800 Austrians towards Ahwaz. He said that the Admiralty attached
the greatest importance to the security of the oil-fields.

reinforcements being delayed as much as was intended, and asked that they should be despatched a

Sir P. Cox reported that he had heard from Bin Sa’ud that he was in need of assistance in money and

arms, as his resources had been heavily drawn upon by the attacks made on him, under Turkish
instigation, by Ibn Bashid and the Ajman tribe. Sir P. Cox recommended that some of the arms and
ammunition captured from the Turks should be handed over to him. He also suggested that the
straitened circumstances of Bin Sa’ud might assist towards persuading him to sign the treaty.
