To—The Commander-In-Chief in India, Simla.
Accompanying the Meerut Brigade are the following S. and T. personnel
Indian Army Reserve Officer 1, Supply and Transport Officers 2, Staff Sergeant
1, warrant officer 1, butcher 1, men 4, Indian agents 2. While cavalry divisions
remain in country it is not possible to spare any equipment or personnel from
the L. of C. With the withdrawal of Indian Corps everything was sent that
could be spared and more cannot be released by the withdrawal of one brigade.
The brigade has full first line transport on British Cavalry scale, which allows
for baggage carriage but not for supplies. To replace each G. S. wagon with
drawn two limbered G. S. wagons were issued. With units total vehicles are as
follows:—
British Cavalry Regiment-*-
1 mess cart.
1 water cart,
18 limbered G. S. wagons.
The same is in the possession of each Indian Cavalry regiment.
Ammunition Column and battery —
6 guns and limbers.
10 G. S. wagons.
9 limbered G. S. wagons*
