With reference to your telegram, dated 9th June, Marsh telegraphs that
:gauge is 42 /7 . Wire from Marling dated 15th June Begins. —394, Secret.
General Beluselski, who has recently arrived from Kirmanshah front, made
following statement in course df conversation with British Vice-Consul at Kazvin.
“ It would not surprise him if Turks recaptured Kirmanshah very soon. As a
matter of fact, he thought it a good plan to encourage Turks to lengthen their
Lines of Communication, the Russians strengthening and contracting theirs.
He asserted tnat two divisions of Turks were on offensive and striving to clear
Russians back into Persia/ ,

French General Staff Paris, have furnished the following information
(1) Dated May 27 st.— 0 n]\ir)e 3rd Jemal was at Beyrut and on June
28th would confer with Enver Pasha An Ottoman title used after the names of certain provincial governors, high-ranking officials and military commanders. at Aleppo.
(2) Dated June ilth.—k reliable agent recently returned from Balkans
states that actually working on the Baghdad there are French
prisoners.

I forward herewith 4 copies of the reports on the Medical arrangements in
Mesopotamia called for by you from General Sir John Eccles Nixon, Lieutenant-
General Sir A. Barrett and Major-General C. I. Fry.
As from your telegram, dated 16th May, No. H.-396: (Dy. No. 54342), calling
for a similar report from Colonel Ada nson it appears that the Vincent Comis
sion is returning to India, these reports are being sent to you tor transmission on
to Sir W. Vincent.

  • ‘Friendly Kurds’ between Amadia [Amadiya] and Neri
  • Arrests of high-level German army officials in Persia
  • Functions of the Arab Bureau
  • Construction of railways
  • Proposals for a modified inspection centre at Fao [Al-Faw] to prevent enemy ships entering the Shatt-al-Arab
  • Violence at Karbala [also rendered in text as Kerbella], including copy of a letter describing the events written by inhabitants of Karbala and addressed to the Persian Government and leaders of the Kashgai [Qashqāy] and Bakhtiari [Bakhtiyārī] (ff 85-86).
