Anatolia Peninsula that forms most of modern-day Turkey. , their representation in the
national Assembly and the part they played in the Greco-
jhirkish v;ar # Even here as the British raemorandnm
shewed^ it is impossible to disregard the indication of a
desire for separate national treatment which has been
^ ca
shown i_rom time to time by the of ICurdish
chieftains from Kurdistan to Constantinople, and by the
risings in^Bitlis and Dersim areas before the war. if
the Kurds of Anatolia Peninsula that forms most of modern-day Turkey. have now thrown in their lot with
the Turks of Anatolia Peninsula that forms most of modern-day Turkey. for various reasons such as their
common attitude towards Armenians, it does not follow
that they have an opportunity of free and
autonomous development such as is being given to them
jl'Jl
in Southern Kurdistan ; they would^prefer to return to the
Turkish State.
On a point of detail use was ma.de in the
Turkish memorandum of the recent bombing of Rowanduz
as a sign that we were forced to keep down the Kurds
by force of arms. As a matter of fact the bombing in
question was that of Turkish troops in Rowanduz who
were trying,as before the war,to penetrate into Southern
Kurdistan in order to gain the allegiance of tie Kurds.
In conclusion it is necessary again to consider
the Iraq Sta.te as a whole and to take into account the
undoubted desires of the Arah and Christian population
the
of/Mosul Vilayet to be included, in the Iraq State, as
against the more doubtful wishes of the Kurds who
probably really only desire to be left alone whether by
British, Arabs or Turks.
