We base our ethnographical case to some extent on
a Turkish ethnographical map produced by Bekir Sami at the
London Conference in March, 1921, and to a greater extent
on a tfery careful statistical survey of the whole vilayet
by British officers and officials completed in 192l #
The Bekir sami map, though it indicates as inhabi
ted by Turks and Kurds rather more territory than the
later statistical investigation by British officials shows
to be actually occupied by those two races, supports
fully the claim which is put forward by the British
Delegation that the whole of the town of Mosul, the whole
of the country north of Mosul on the right bank of the
Tigris as far as the boundary of the vilayet, the whole
of the country south of Mosul on the right bank of the
Tigris, and most of the country south of Mosul on the
left bank of the Tigris as far as the Srbil-Kirkuk-Kifri
road, are Arab*
