My telegram Ho.2. re-numhered Ho.112 has hoen
repeated requested. Meanwhile Colonial Office sent to
Baghdad January 2nd message repeated in my immediately
following telegram.
Action taken was Based on note sent to Board
of Trade By 5ir P. Lloyd Greame and stated to have Been
approved By Prime Minister and yourself. In covering
letter wlr P®Lloyd Greame directed that if note went
Beyond what it was in our power to fulfil,necessary
qualifications must Be telegraphed direct to Your Lordship
from London.
Colonial Office thought it absolutely essential
to obtain concurrence of Irak Government in the first
instance and consequently despatched telegram at once to
Baghdad. They have now instructed Lir P. Cox By clear
the line wire to suspend action on their telegram pending
further instructions. But it is of course possible that
this may Be too late to prevent him from approaching
Irak Government..
Colonial Office would Be glad to know as soon as
possible what further action jrcur Lordship desires them to
