A sketch map of eastern parts of Persia [Iran] made to accompany the report Report on Sistan and the Country Between It and Mashad [Mashhad], by Lieutenant H D Napier, Staff Lieutenant, Intelligence Branch, 1894. The map was compiled and drawn under the orders of Colonel Thomas Hungerford Holdich, Superintendent of Survey, and the supervision of Lieutenant Napier, in the Simla Drawing Office. Outline, printing, and hill shading A method of showing the shape of the land on a map by shading slopes as though they were being illuminated by the sun. was done by T H Rendell, Extra Assistant Superintendent of Survey.
The map shows information on hydrology, human settlement, roads, topography, and political boundaries. Blue lines depict the various routes between Mashad and Sistan. The red line depicts the route taken by Lieutenant Napier in 1892-93.
Beneath the map is the following information: Intelligence Branch. Topo. Dy. No. 1060. Exd. J. A. A. October 1894; Topo. Dy. No. 776.; No. 611-I., 94.
