Personal. We have received private information that the cabinet at home
have the question of your advance to Baghdad before them. They have an-
pointed a committee to deal with the question. ^
We now know that we cannot, in any circumstances, expect to receive
troops either from Egypt or from Europe.
I thmk therefore that in these circumstances you should refrain, as far as
possible, from committing yourself to an advance until the cabinet decision is
made known to you.
