The item consists of copies and extracts of correspondence, minutes, resolutions and memorandums cited in, or enclosed with, extracts of the Government of Bombay From c. 1668-1858, the East India Company’s administration in the city of Bombay [Mumbai] and western India. From 1858-1947, a subdivision of the British Raj. It was responsible for British relations with the Gulf and Red Sea regions. Political Consultations. The item is concerned with multiple issues pertaining to the political situation in the Persian Gulf The historical term used to describe the body of water between the Arabian Peninsula and Iran. , in particular:

The correspondence mainly consists of letters between Wilson and the Chief Secretary to the Government of Bombay From c. 1668-1858, the East India Company’s administration in the city of Bombay [Mumbai] and western India. From 1858-1947, a subdivision of the British Raj. It was responsible for British relations with the Gulf and Red Sea regions. . Other correspondents include: numerous officers in the Company’s Marine; Secretaries to the Bengal and Madras Governments and the Acting Persian Secretary; Native Agents Non-British agents affiliated with the British Government. at Mocha and Bahrein; the Envoy at the Court of Persia; the Rulers of Muscat, Bushire, Bahrein, Sheeraz, and the Chief of the Buniboo Alli [Banī Bū ‘Alī] tribe.
