This volume contains letters sent to and from the East India Company Factory An East India Company trading post. at Bussorah [Basra] between 19 March 1732 and 24 July 1745. It includes material relating to:

• The departure of Thomas Caun [Tahmasb Quli Khan, later Nadir Shah] for Bagdat [Baghdad]
• The departure of Achmat Bashaw An Ottoman title used after the names of certain provincial governors, high-ranking officials and military commanders. • The increase of the Angria’s [Angrias’] fleet to eleven following the capture of two Portuguese vessels
• The resolution of Ally Bashaw An Ottoman title used after the names of certain provincial governors, high-ranking officials and military commanders. • The deposition of the King of Persia [Shah Tahmasb II] by Thomas Coolee Caun [Tahmasb Quli Khan] and the proclamation of his son Shaw Abass III [Shah ‘Abbas III] as King
• A letter from Tahmasb Quli Khan to Ahmed Pasha An Ottoman title used after the names of certain provincial governors, high-ranking officials and military commanders. demanding the restitution of Persian territories

• The arrival of the ‘Tartars who forced their way through Muscovy’ at Shamakee [Shamakhi]
• The victory of Thomas Caun over the Turks, his conclusion of peace with Achmat Bashaw An Ottoman title used after the names of certain provincial governors, high-ranking officials and military commanders. , and pursuit of Mahomet [Caun] Ballooch and his Arab and Ophgoon [Afghan] confederates
• The assumption by Thomas Caun [Tahmasb Quli Khan] of the title of King [as Nadir Shah Afshar]
• The expedition of Luttiffa Caun [Muhammad Latif Khan Daryabegi] against Ottoman Basra
• The death of Captain Martin French, Resident at Bussorah, and his replacement by Nathaniel Whittwell

• The capture of a French ship by Sambojee [Sambhaji] Angria and his death shortly afterwards
