No. 160.

Vprv Unzpnt.
Your tplPgrara No. 237 (of March 20th.
Despatch of troops to Isfahan.)
Military authoritips stat* that th« wpathar in
North-West Persia renders it doubtful whether any
troops from the military expedition can be expected
to arrive at Ramadan within three weeks at least from
now.
In view of this fact and of the possibility
of a coup de main being effected at Kazvin and Tehran
oy Jangalis, as foreshadowed in penultimate paragraph
of your telegram No. 241 (of March 21st), I should be
glad to learn whether you adhere to the view that
regulars and South Persia Rifles should not be sent
from Pars to Isfahan, where they might arrive in 5
weeks or so. /©
Your telegram No.23? makes no mention of Sir
P. Sykes* views on the subject, though request for
these was included in ray telegram No.146 (of March 12th),
and I should oe glad if you would consult him on the
point. It is very desirable that I should receive your
reply with the utmost possible despatch.
