Reference Marling's 288 of April 9th referring to
Nestorian Levies at Urumiah. Duneterville should maintain
any of these troops which can be withdrawn and they should be
stiffened by British officers and N.C.O.s from his force.
1 consider raising and organising Levies as of
greatest urgency owing to rapid Turkish penetration into
Persia and for this purpose personnel at Punsterville's
disposal should be used. North of Kerman-hah - Kasvin
road in the direotion of Sehnah, Bi^ar and Zinjan a screen
of Levies should be formed. It is hoped that such a screen is
contemplated in the scheme referred to in your X.8315 of the
25th inst., and that it will be put into exesution with
least possible delayj as every day is of importance.
Addressed Mesopotamia, repeated India and Teheran.
