particulars available here: In July 1S17 Rev. Mr. Heazell,
Secretary of British Assyrian Mission, considered that a force of
3,000 to t;000 Assyrians might possibly be raised to fight
outside their ov^n country while the hi liman wir^ht produce another
15,000 men to fight in their o^n country,Assyrians fall into 2
groups (a) living between Amadieh and JulamerK worked by Arch
bishop of Canterbury’s Mission (b) Persian section in Urumiah
district, worked by American Presbyterians. Chaldean Catholics
in Mosul district have little in common with hillmen north of
Aipadieh. Many Assyrians speak English eo British Officers could
be used, but American Officers would be inadvisable except round
Urumia. Lieutenant Reed will be able to say about possibility
of employing Pestorians of Julamerk district, liar Shimun having
been murdered, Har Yawalaha, Bishop of Duri, might be of use.
