Stokes).
In reply to representations which I made to
War Off ice in the sense of the above-mentioned tele
gram, I cm informed that they had. already issued
instructions for Colonel Stokes 1 return to Bagdad
as they consider that his local knowledge would be
of considerael-e assistance to General Dunsterville
at Homoduru If, however, you adhere to the opinion
that it is in the public interest to retain him in
Teheren, matter will be immediately reconsidered.
