View of Baghdad from the roof of the British Residency An office of the East India Company and, later, of the British Raj, established in the provinces and regions considered part of, or under the influence of, British India. . In the background a pontoon bridge extends across the Tigris. One small craft, a barge are visible at centre; right of centre several sailing boats are moored. At right several figures are visible along the quay beside two-storey stone buildings and palms. At least three minarets are visible in the background at right.
