Article 9 .—Should the Company succeed in finding oil in paying quanti
ties in the said territories and as soon as oil is exported by the pipe-line the
Company agree to pay to the Kashkuli Khans a further sum of 10,000

Whenever the Company decide to issue shares to the Kashkuli Khans in

oil in the said territories, the said Khans shall be granted three shares every
hundred shares issued by such Company or Companies. These shares wid be
issued in the name of the Kashkuli Khans and the dividends that may there
after be declared annually by the said Company or Companies shall be divided
equally amongst the said Khans.
The above shares shall be paid by the Company to the Kashkuli Khans
in return for the protection ai;d assistance they have undertaken to provide
for the Company’s staff and work, on condition that they have in fact provided
it, but it is hereby agreed that the said amount of 20,000

The Kashkuli Khans hereby undertake not to sell mortgage transfer or
otherwise dispose of such shares, if issued, and in order that such shares may
permanently remain in the Kashkuli Khans 5 family they hereby agree to
deposit the script with the Company against a receipt for the same.
Article 10 .—In the event of the Company failing to discover oil in
sufficient quantity they shall have the right to stop work at their option and
the Kashkuli Khans shall have no claim to any of the above payments.
Article II.—The Kaskuli Khans solemnly declare that they will carry
Dut all the conditions of this contract willingly and faithfully and that they
and their heirs and successors shall be its guarantors and shall accept full
responsibility for any claim or dispute by any person whether in their territory
or beyond it questioning the validity of any stipulations on this contract.
This contract cannot he cancelled except as provided as above and shall
remain in force for the period of the Company’s concession from Persian
Government or any extension or renewal thereof.
In the event of any difference arising between the Company and the
Kashkuli Khans it shall be settled in an unofficial and friendly manner
between the two parties; failing a friendly settlement t e mpu
referred to one of His Majesty’s Consular officers for arbitration and his
decision shall be accepted as final. > / , . .,
