This item contains copies of letters from Samuel Manesty, Acting Envoy to Persia [Iran], to: Harford Jones, Resident in Bagdat [Baghdad]; John Barker, Consul in Aleppo; Peter Tooke, Agent of the East India Company in Constantinople [Istanbul]; and Coja Cawork Doud [Khawājah Kevork Dāwūd], Broker Often a local commercial agent in the Gulf who regularly performed duties of intelligence gathering and political representation. and Linguist at the Bussora [Basra] Residency An office of the East India Company and, later, of the British Raj, established in the provinces and regions considered part of, or under the influence of, British India. ; sent from a camp near Kazeroon [Kazerun] and dated 6 March 1803.

Manesty reports that he has transferred his duties as Resident in Bussora to Captain Edward Stephenson during his absence in Persia.
