The orders of the Basha [‘Alī Pāshā al-Kahyah, Governor of Baghdad] to Mahomed Nejeeb Beg [Muḥammad Najīb Beg], Mussaleem During the eighteenth century this was the third most powerful official in Ottoman Iraq (after the Pasha and the Kiya). The orders concern the detention of an Egyptian woman living with a British sailor in Bussora (see IOR/L/PS/9/76/299).
