More attention is being paid to sports in tbe various schools. In response
to an invitation from Yezd, eleven footballers, mostly pupils in the Government
Middle Schools, proceeded to Yezd in May, to tahe part in a football match.
The competition which, took place at Yezd, resulted in the Iverman pniyers
scoring two goals against the Yezdis’ nil.
All students of the Middle Schools in Kerman were called upon to register
their names at the Military School for the training of the N. C. O.’s on the 24th
December, since when they have been attending parades on certain days ot the
week.
The Tarsi National School were able to continue their first two middle
classes ( 7 th and 8 th) through charitable help received from Bombay. Mrs.
Tehaimir Mehta, sister of the late Sir Dinshah Petit, who visited Kerman m
< Wnhor subscribed Bs. 6 , 000 , to be utilised during three years, at the rate ot
Bs ‘>000 a year for the addition of a 9th class to the Parsi National School and
the introduction of a special class to teach religious matter to the pupils in a
second Zoroastrain School at Kerman. Mrs. Mehta promised to have the two
classes inspected on the expiry of the three _ years, with a view to making
arrangement for the continuance of the subscription, if the result should prove
to be satisfactory.
Naib Sarhang Khajoui, who relieved Naih Sarhang Tumaj, as Officer Com
manding Amnieh (Road-guards) in Ker-
Amnieh. the end of January, remained in
charge until the end of the year. Three outlaws from the Buchaqchi tribe were
captured by the Amnieh authorities and brought to Kerman for trial at the
end of August.
Complaints against some of the Amnieh officers and N. C. O.’s stationed
on the various outposts in the province, for corruption and extortion, are still
heard of from time to time.
Mirza Ghaffar Khan Yaziri held the post of Chief of the Himicipality
Kerman until the beginning of June, when
Municipality. was transferred to Qum and Mirza
Ibrahim Khan Ibrahimi, Municipality Accountant, held temporary charge until
relieved by Jabiri from Qum in the middle of July. Jabin was m charge for the
rest of the year.
Fresh Municipal elections were held at the end of January, when Mirza
Lutfali Khan Vakili, one of the leading notables, who had been President ot he
Municipal Council in Kerman since June 1932, was replaced by Sayyed Muham-
mad Hashimi, editor of the local weekly newspaper Bidari .
As the result of a recommendation by the Commission of Enquiry, who
arrived in Kerman at the end of October 1933 and left for Bandar Abbas m
January 1934 tbe Governor-General arranged for an assessment of the con-

Work on the big circus and new roads in the town was resumed m April

' prepared by the Political Residency An office of the East India Company and, later, of the British Raj, established in the provinces and regions considered part of, or under the influence of, British India. in Bushire and printed at the Government of India Press in New Delhi for the years 1926-1938.
