CHAPTER IV.
ADMINISTRATION REPORT OF HIS MAJESTY’S CONSULATE
KERMAN, FOR TEIE YEAR 1935,
(For the Consular District of Bandar Abbas and Lingah).
A. BRITISH INTEREST.
1 . His Majesty's Consulate-Personnel. —Major C. H. Lincoln O.B.E.,
held charge till the 17th November 1935, when he went on leave and Captain
Bazalgette took over.
2 . Mesopotamia Iran Corporation Limited. —Mr. I. D’Sa was clerk
in charge till 7th February whep Mirza Saleh Pishdad relieved him. Mr.
P. S. M. DeSouza relieved the latter on the 24th September.
3. Evacuation of Basidu and Henjam. —The news of the evacuation
of Henjam and Basidu by the British Navy caused great comment. The
local authorities hope that the British will evacuate Bahrein next.
4. The British Indian Firm of Seth Menghraj Lilaram. —The British
Indian firm of Seth Menghraj Lilaram bought an export license from
Bodharam and Kal Ghulam Reza, merchants of Bandar Abbas. Gold worth
of Rials, 21,190 was found hidden in the consignment of goods exported
under this license. The firm were accused of being implicated in the
smuggling of gold, but were acquitted by the local court. The Customs
appealed against this acquittal, and the appeal Court at Kerman sentenced
Menghraj Lilaram’s Manager, Kal Ghulam Reza, and Bodhamal to 3
months imprisonment, and a joint fine of Rials, 42,380. The firm has
appealed to Tehran.
B. LOCAL OFFICIALS.
1. Govenorate-P ersonnel. —Agha Ismail Khan “Bahadur was Gover
nor of Bandar Abbas throughout the year. He was also President of the
Municipality. . *
His Excellency Mirza Mohammed Ali Khan Rukni, Governor of Gult
Ports, visited Bandar Abbas, Lingah, Henjam, Basidu, and Kishm in May.
The Governor of Bandar Abbas was ordered by; the Ministry of Intcr y 1 '
to nominate suitable candidates for election to the Majlis. He nominated
Khan Sahib Ebrahim Gelladary and Haji Mushir Dawani, and openly
expressed his preference for the former, as being-the more experienced o
thf two Khan Sahib Ebrahim Gelladary, on account of his long connec
tion with the British Government was not elected
The Governor of Bandar Abbas inspected Jask m June The Gover

' prepared by the Political Residency An office of the East India Company and, later, of the British Raj, established in the provinces and regions considered part of, or under the influence of, British India. in Bushire and printed at the Government of India Press in New Delhi for the years 1926-1938.
