The item concerns the request of the African Institution that the East India Company use their influence over the Imaum of Muscat to persuade him to abolish the trade in enslaved people in Zanzebar [Zanzibar]. The previous efforts of the East India Company and the reply of the Imaum of Muscat are included. The African Institution appends a long description of Zanzebar, including its rulers, natural resources, and trade, especially the trade in enslaved people and the process of selling them.
