2. The point taken in paragraph 2 of our
telegram of the 1st October on that paper - with the
view taken in which the Government of India agree -
will be adequately covered if the draft instructions
to Sir Robert Clive, of which a copy was received in
Foreign Office letter of the 15th October on P.6624/
29 flagged, are approved.
3. Paragraph 4. - If the instructions
referred to in the preceding paragraph are approved,
Bahrein will be enumerated in the catalogue of our
Treaty States , and we may agree with the Government
of India that it will be unnecessary to press for
particular reference to our special treaty relations

steps to be taken to piepare the ground in advance of
signature of the Persian Treaty for action to
regularise our position in Bahrein can best be
considered separately. The matter is not so urgent,
and we shall have to consult the Colonial Office as
well as the Foreign Office on it.

Agent in Bahrein, the Department had hoped that the
compromise arrangement finally suggested by
Taimourtache ( compare par agraph 4 (b_| of our telegram
of the 2nd October) might have been acceptable.
