At 9h A. M., the wind hauling round to thNNth'
wardand Westward, and the ship making much
lee way bore away for anchorage. At lo, came
to, with the best bower in 7 fathoms, and veered
out to /0 fathoms, ship riding easily. At l' 30
8 feet 6 inches in the hold, and after half an hour’s
close attention, found the ship making at the rate
of 3 feet an hour, and apparently settling fast - un
on which determined (for the safety of the crew
and cargo) to beach the ship ; consequently slip
ped the cable and run for the shore. At 12 30
ship grounded, bumped heavily, and came broad
side on at Machemar (fishing village,) 5 miles south
of Vimrorla,

of the Pattamar Alowboody, from Tellicherry bound
to Bombay, states that we left Tellicherry 15 days ago, or on the 14th instant,
and when near Goa 3 days after, we experienced a very strong gale of wind with
little lain. We put off for 3 days and nightSj but the gale was still increasing
and continued so for 7 days. When the wind commenced to abate we turned and
made for shore, and arrived safe in Razapoor River. We threw overboard part
of our caigo, consisting of pepper, sandalwood, cocoanuts, &c. We saw no Patta-
mai oi any large vessel, but several articles, such as cocoanuts, firewood, cotton
bundles, &c., were seen floating. We remained two days in the Razapoor River,
ut heaid no account ot the gale as we were anchored at a place where there was
no other vessel. The wind ivas first blowing from the land side, and afterwards
from the opposite direction.
