man could have evinced more zeal than he had done in the discharge of bis duties.
Besides conducting a series of tidal and meteorological observations for some years
he had fitted up a transit, and provided himself with a telescope and ; chronometer
for active purposes, and made a very large number of most valuable observations.
It was agreed to unanimously, that the Secretary should be directed to address
Government under the Marine Department, applying for the use of the portable
magnetic instruments at the Golaba Observatory not now in use.
The Ordinary Monthly Meeting of this Society took place in their Rooms,; Town
Hall, on Thursday the 22nd February, at 3 o’clock p. m.—P resent : The Hon’ble
