Peculiarities of the different kinds of tools will thus be shown, with hy-

brids manufactured from various patterns to meet circumstances.
“ These will again appear in duplicate under the heads China, India, aud
Egypt. There will be no special English head.
“ Gums will appear under the general division resins and gums, and under the
topographical class ; so with ores, minerals, and all other materials.
“ By this means a stranger in Bombay will discover at a glance the whole
contents of our bazaars, find directions where and how to procure them, and be able
2 n a few hours to acquire all the information regarding them that can be obtained.
They will see what are the products of other countries, and may, if proceeding
thither, be made aware at a glance of all that is known regarding them at Bom
bay ; and from this determine the facts on which we are ignorant, in reference
to which enquiries will be most important.
“ While these things may be allowed by the Geographical Section of the
arrangement, by their classified division a short system of study may be carried on,
and the Geologist and Mineralogist in particular will find one set of cabinets and
tables arranged with the strictest regard to the system of the text-books and
manuals.
“ Reports will be published periodically as they are found to be required, or
as the state of finances will allow. To avoid, however, the enormous expenditure
printing so often occasions, the information desired to be disseminated will be put
in as pleasing a form as possible, so as to become desirable to the general reader,
in hope that it may find a place in the newspapers free of charge. When further
elaborated, it is believed it will be found eminently acceptable as forming a part of
the reports of the Chamber of Commerce, or of the almanacs Ol* ofillPT* la
