This item consists of copies of correspondence and consultations cited in, or enclosed with, political letters from the Government of Bombay From c. 1668-1858, the East India Company’s administration in the city of Bombay [Mumbai] and western India. From 1858-1947, a subdivision of the British Raj. It was responsible for British relations with the Gulf and Red Sea regions. . These political letters appear in IOR/F/4/2174/105546. It is the twenty-third in a series of forty-five items on the Persian Gulf The historical term used to describe the body of water between the Arabian Peninsula and Iran. .

The item contains letters acknowledging and replying to despatches and letters sent from the Government of Bombay From c. 1668-1858, the East India Company’s administration in the city of Bombay [Mumbai] and western India. From 1858-1947, a subdivision of the British Raj. It was responsible for British relations with the Gulf and Red Sea regions. to the Government of India. These concern the visit of Commodore Sir Henry Martin Blackwood to the Gulf, and the attempt of the Resident in the Persian Gulf The historical term used to describe the body of water between the Arabian Peninsula and Iran. to persuade the Ruler of Bahrein [Bahrain] to arrest one of his subjects, named Mayoof [Ma‘yūf], who, together with a party from the Moozarrah [Āl Mazārī‘] tribe, allegedly plundered a vessel engaged in trade.
