This item consists of copies of a Political Despatch from the Government of India's Foreign Department to the Secretary of State for India, dated 14 July 1873 and received by the India Office The department of the British Government to which the Government of India reported between 1858 and 1947. The successor to the Court of Directors. 's Political Department on 11 August 1873, forwarding copies of a letter from the Political Agent A mid-ranking political representative (equivalent to a Consul) from the diplomatic corps of the Government of India or one of its subordinate provincial governments, in charge of a Political Agency. and Consul at Zanzibar, regarding a man from Madras [Chennai] named Arnasallo, who was reportedly convicted of complicity in the trading of enslaved persons.
