This item consists of copies of correspondence, consultations, and minutes cited in, or enclosed with, political letters from the Government of Bombay From c. 1668-1858, the East India Company’s administration in the city of Bombay [Mumbai] and western India. From 1858-1947, a subdivision of the British Raj. It was responsible for British relations with the Gulf and Red Sea regions. . These political letters appear in IOR/F/4/2349/123808. The main correspondents are: the Government of Bombay From c. 1668-1858, the East India Company’s administration in the city of Bombay [Mumbai] and western India. From 1858-1947, a subdivision of the British Raj. The item concerns descriptions of skirmishes between Wahabee [Wahhābi] confederacy [allies of the Second Saudi State], led by Saad bin Mootluk [Sa‘d bin Muṭlaq] and Sheik Saeed bin Tahnoon of Aboothabee [Shaikh Sa‘īd bin Ṭaḥnūn Āl Nahyān of Abu Dhabi]. It also details the eventual peace agreement between the two sides, brokered by Sharreef Ally [Sharif ‘Alī], envoy from the Sharreef of Mecca, Ben Aoon [Sharif of Mecca, Muḥammad bin ‘Abd al-Mu‘īn bin ‘Awn], under the terms of which bin Tahnoon agreed to withdraw from Brymee [Al Buraymi].
