Copy of a letter from Lieutenant Charles Christie to the Secretary to HM Embassy to Persia [Iran], James Morier. The letter reports the return to Tahiran [Tehran] of the Indian Detachment attached to the British mission charged with training a Persian corps of horse artillery for the Crown Prince of Persia, Abbas Mirza. The letter also reports the Crown Prince’s approbation for the services rendered by the Indian Detachment, and his bestowal of gifts upon them.

The letter was enclosed in Ouseley’s letter to the Governor-General of the Presidency The name given to each of the three divisions of the territory of the East India Company, and later the British Raj, on the Indian subcontinent. of Fort William, Lord Minto, of 10 December 1811 (see IOR/L/PS/9/68/118).
