This item consists of copies of a Political Despatch from the Government of India Foreign Department to the Secretary of State for India, dated 24 January 1873 and received via Brindisi on 17 February 1873, communicating observations with regard to a proposal made by Colonel Lewis Pelly, Political Resident A senior ranking political representative (equivalent to a Consul General) from the diplomatic corps of the Government of India or one of its subordinate provincial governments, in charge of a Political Residency. in the Persian Gulf The historical term used to describe the body of water between the Arabian Peninsula and Iran. , to establish a mixed Tribunal for the adjudication of cases in which British subjects are plaintiffs and Persian [Iranian] subjects defendants, in continuation of despatch No. 7 of 10 January 1873.
