Following is progress report for week ending August 17th.
Standard gauge lines, Tekrit extension! earthworks and railhead at
Tekriit station (2 groups undeeipheratle) but stat on and sidings
have not yet been begun. Metre guage lines. Extension
to Khanikin. Between Table Mountain and Kurdarrah tunnel A is
77 per cent complete tunnel B 45 per cent complete cuttings are
66 per cent complete and banks 80 per cent complete. Between
Kurdarrah and Khanikin 30 per cent, of the banks is complete.
Basra system. 23£ miles of permanent way and 79 sets of points
and crossings have been laid down in port area which is equivalent
to 60 per cent, of the work. Mas ini yah Hillah connection.
Earthworks started. Permanent Diyalah bridge well sinking
tarted. Surveys. Work in progress on length between Masiriyah
and Hillah, Reconnaissance beyond Khanikin in hand.
