Presuonably Bhall have to get from India the 10
enginds and 100 vehicles for P&itak extension. We suggest
following specification for balance of engines and vehicles.
In oaso of possible future transfer prof op that engines
and stock should conform to Indian standard dimensions, but
in any case running dimensions Mallets now under provision
should not be exceeded* To maintain uniform typec out here
engines might be either Baldwins Mallets o r Indian Standard
Bogie 6 coupled tender engines but if possible in order to give
greater tractive effort on grades with smaller wheels.
I suggest following details if narr engines have to te
designed. Maximum lead on any axle 9 tons. Travel freely
round curves of 500 feet radius. Capacity 250 tons on grade 1
in 50 s Vacuum brake 7/ith hand brakes on engine and tender®
Oil fuel burning and super heating. WaXschearts valve gear.
Footobey injectors to deal with warm water. Bogie tenders with
500 gallons of water capacity and oil fuel tanks. The wagons
to be Bogies with maximum axle load 8 and a half tons. Capa
city 20 to 25 tons. High sided and high ended with 1 large door
in centre of each side. Side t'' have sockets for stanchions
for use when carrying hay etc.25 per cent to be vacuum braked
(l gr. undeo.) piped. /II to have hand operated brakes.
Couplings to be standard (?) 100 gauge screw to vertical and
lateral play.
My estimate fop 650 vagons was given in terms of 10 tone
4 heelers and numbers could be reduced proportionately if
Bogies are supplied but in addition to the 100 vehicles for
India I strongly recommend ordering at least 400 Bogies e After
providing for K/rnpanshah this wjll represent only an addition
(?) of 17 per cent to total capacity of stock already provided
for which 7/111 give some mai'gun for increase f>£ traffic and for
•£?) renewals of present stock tel^ great deal of v/hich is very old.
