earthworks 4 miles more . Propose r-mpletinc to Shorgat as only
possible means of maintaining force at Mosul and providing for
further demands of Kurdistan situation. Your offer is to give
mo 60 '.entimetre in lieu of 2 foot 6 inch for further extension*
The country onwards is such that even 60 centimetre cannot reach
Mosul under 12 months from leaving main railhead at Shergat. The
alignment will not materially differ frcm that for standard line
and deviations to avoid earthworks would be (stultified) by immense
increase in length. At the same time it is essential that cur
power of delivery at Mosul be increased, and I gladly accept 60
centimetre if you consider that is best solution. Will you ploasc
